Deepa Dharini Dvayam
Deepa Dharini Dvayam
This piece from Ekam: The Collector’s Edition is a brass artifact aged over three decades, carrying the natural patina that develops with time. The surface shows authentic variations in tone, texture, and age marks that reflect its history.
To preserve this character, the piece is not polished or refinished. The natural patina and signs of aging are intentionally retained, making each piece unique and true to its heritage.
Deepa Dharini Dvayam, meaning “The Pair of Lamp Bearers,” presents two gracefully sculpted feminine figures holding small lamp basins in their hands. The posture reflects the traditional welcoming gesture seen in temple entrances and ceremonial spaces, where lamp bearers symbolize light, hospitality, and auspicious beginnings.
The figures stand upon detailed pedestal bases, adorned with ornaments and attire reminiscent of classical temple sculpture. Their forward-leaning stance and extended arms create a sense of offering, as though presenting sacred light to the space around them.
In modern interiors, Deepa Dharini Dvayam can be placed on consoles, altar spaces, or entrance displays where the small lamps can be lit during special occasions. As a sculptural pair, the figures bring symmetry, warmth, and a quiet ceremonial presence into contemporary spaces.
